Vaginal Rejuvenation

Most women feel good about wearing flattering clothing. They put extra effort into skin care, makeup, and hair style to look their best. They tend to their figures with diet, exercise, and body contouring techniques. Yet for many, a sense of confidence is not complete. Dr. M. Christine Lee can help, with advanced vaginal rejuvenation techniques at The Skin and Laser Treatment Institute in Walnut Creek, MD.

Vaginal Rejuvenation, Walnut Creek

What causes vaginal relaxation?

In a young, healthy woman, the vagina is a firm, muscular canal. Tissues are elastic and a mucosal lining provides lubrication. Labia, folds of skin at the entrance to the vagina, provide protection for the vulva –sensitive external female genitalia. A meshwork of muscles called the pelvic floor supports vaginal tissues as well as the bladder and bowels, keeping these organs in proper position.

Collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid are primary components of all skin and muscle-type tissues in the body. These elements keep tissues thick and firm, elastic and hydrated. As we age, however, production slows down, falling behind the level of daily depletion – especially evident during and after menopause. On the face this shows a thin, lax skin that droops into wrinkles.

The vaginal area is affected in much the same way. Labia enlarge and sag. They may be visible when wearing form-fitting clothing or rub uncomfortably during intercourse or exercise. The vagina becomes looser, creating loss of sensation for both sexual partners. Lubrication decreases, further adding to discomfort. As muscles weaken, the bladder drops, causing urinary urgency or leakage.

Pregnancy and vaginal delivery place a tremendous strain on a woman’s body, accelerating these changes. Even a young woman who has had a large baby, multiple deliveries, or a forceps delivery may experience vaginal atrophy or stress urinary incontinence.

Walnut Creek, CA women enjoy vaginal rejuvenation without surgery

Some benefit can be gained through exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles. However, in the past, vaginal rejuvenation surgery was the only solution for significant improvement. Dr. Lee has changed that with advanced, nonsurgical rejuvenation for ladies.

IntimaLase is a minimally invasive laser therapy. It delivers focused light energy deep into vaginal tissues. It triggers immediate collagen contraction, tightening vagina and skin of the labia. The body responds to heat generated by the laser with increased production of new collagen for continued improvement. Treatment may also enhance natural lubrication. It can boost sexual confidence, and satisfaction for the patient and male partner. IncontiLase takes vaginal rejuvenation a step further, tightening pelvic floor muscles and improving support structures for the bladder.

With laser vaginal rejuvenation there is NO:

  • Anesthetic, cutting, sutures, or risk of secondary infection.
  • Pain – The sensation of warmth is well-tolerated, and some women find it pleasant. Numbing gel can be applied, but it is not usually necessary.
  • Lengthy procedure – Treatment takes about half an hour.
  • Downtime – You may return to normal activities after the appointment and resume sexual activity in a week.

Dr. Lee will customize a treatment plan to your needs – usually two to three monthly sessions. Then, periodic retreatment (every year or two) supports urinary health and keeps vaginal tissues firm.
